Meet our Lounge Legends, young women who have each experienced unique and emotional journeys with cancer.... be prepared to feel empowered, a little emotional and totally inspired!
“It’s not the end of the road. I feel like when someone mentions cancer there’s certain connotations that go along with it, but if you regularly check your breasts and catch things early and deal with things efficiently - then it usually turns out fine.”
I was diagnosed during my second year of university. The past few years have been the most challenging times of my life.
I wanted to be part of this campaign to demonstrate that no matter what life throws at you, you CAN handle it. Having been a survivor of domestic abuse throughout my childhood, I’ve struggled with my mental health since a very young age. Team this with a breast cancer diagnosis and a miscarriage, I was at a real low point in life.
There were definitely points in which I thought I wouldn’t survive, or that I didn’t want to survive. But despite everything, I’m alive. My message is a message of hope and awareness.
When Lounge first came to me with campaign, I was so impressed by their concept and efforts. I felt a real sense of community, something which I had been deprived of through my cancer journey.
I love the message, and the fact that real people are helping to raise awareness. It isn’t clinical or scary, it’s personal and heartfelt.
Being surrounded by such a gorgeous, empowering #FemaleFamily is such a blessing to me, and I’m so grateful to Mel and the team at Lounge for making this happen.
“I first found my lump when i was having a movie night with my boyfriend, and I was balancing a bowl of popcorn on my boobs… and something felt a bit weird…”
