Dizzy, 26, cancer fighter and rambling write. Fighting the C word!

“I was too scared to go get it checked out and then my friend made me go… I think it’s important to remember that - i mean i prefer to bury my head in the sand and not think about what it could be - so if i don't know then nothing is wrong… but it’s important to remember that lumps are our bodies way of telling us that something is wrong.”

I was diagnosed with stage four cancer aged 25 but have come out the back out it now, with a smile on my face (...most of the time), and I wanted to get involved with this project/campaign because I believe in the cause of spreading awareness and knowledge of checking yourself and knowing the signs of what to look for.

Cancer doesn’t care who you are or how old you are, so it’s important to recognise the signs.

You know your body better than anyone so make sure the doctors take you seriously if you think something is wrong.

Most importantly, you will never be alone, and you just remember your resilience because that can get you through anything the world throws at you (and the world can throw a hell of a lot of shit your way!) You will find a hell of a tribe out there who are going through something similar so even if you feel alone, you never really will be.

“I definitely didn’t think it would happen to me… so it’s really important that people know that it can happen to anyone. Cancer doesn’t care about your age, gender, ethnicity, lifestyle choices… it really can happen to anyone, and it’s really important to check yourself and take to it seriously.”
